GREAT SEDONA HIKES

Templeton Trail

NOTE: The following summary information is to help with hike selection and is not intended to be used for hiking the trail. For your safety and enjoyment, please obtain a copy of Sedona Hiking Guide which is available here.

Summary:  This hike passes beneath Cathedral Rock

Challenge Level:  Moderate

Hiking Distance:  Approximately 9.2 miles round trip between the Courthouse Vista parking area and the Baldwin parking area

Trailhead Location:  You can park at either the Courthouse Vista parking area or you can park at the Baldwin Trail parking area.

Description:  The Templeton Trail stretches from the Bell Rock Pathway under SR 179 west to the Baldwin Trail. It's a 9.2 mile hike from one parking area to the other so we hike this as a pass-the-key hike with two groups hiking toward each other and meeting in the middle. There we pass our keys and later meet to swap back. The trail has excellent views of Cathedral Rock and many other red rock formations. At the Baldwin end, you hike adjacent to Oak Creek and past a powerful vortex spot (see Hiking the Vortexes for additional information).
