Summary: This hike takes you near Woods Canyon up to Wild Horse Mesa
Challenge Level: Hard
Hiking Distance: About 3 miles each way (total of 6 miles roundtrip)
Trailhead Directions: The parking area is located on Jack's Canyon Road.
Description: After about 1 mile you reach a saddle where you have a good view of the Village of Oak Creek. Approximately 3 miles from the start of the hike, you can go to the north side of Wild Horse Mesa and have great views of Lee Mountain and Jack's Canyon. The name "Hot Loop" refers to the branding irons the early cowboys used to brand the wild horses they captured here on Wild Horse Mesa (branding iron = a "hot loop"), and not to describe the hike.
For those of you who have a GPS unit, I have the GPS data available for the hike.
