GREAT SEDONA HIKES

GREAT SEDONA HIKES

Marg's Draw Trail

Summary:   An intown hike that provides great red rock views

Challenge Level:   Easy to Moderate

Hiking Distance:   1.3 miles each way from the Sombart Lane Trailhead; 1.6 miles each way from the Morgan Road Trailhead to Schnebly Hill Road

Trailhead Directions:   There are actually three trailheads for this hike, at the south end of the trail, at the north end of the trail and in the middle of the trail. The south trailhead is at the end of Morgan Road, which is located 1.4 miles south of the "Y" on State Route 179 at GPS coordinates 34° 50.734 North; 111° 45.416 West. The north trailhead is 1 mile out Schnebly Hill Road, (Schnebly Hill Road is located 0.2 miles south of the "Y" on SR 179) at GPS coordinates 34° 52.301 North; 111° 44.926 West. The middle trailhead is at the end of Sombart Lane, which is located 0.7 mile south of the "Y" (the intersection of SR 179 and SR 89A) on SR 179 at GPS coordinates 34° 51.427 North; 111° 45.677 West.

Description:   The trail essentially goes north and south. The south trailhead is shared with the Broken Arrow Hike and the north trailhead is shared with the Huckaby Hike. Hiking from the middle trailhead is steep for the 1/10 mile, then is relatively flat. The hike is close to town and there are residences at either end. But in the middle you are in wildreness and have the feeling of being "away from it all."
